Thomas Hardcastle is a resident of the Ojai Valley where he paints and takes an active role in the visual arts. His premiere exhibition at the Ventura County Post Office received dramatic attention and since then he has continued to paint and exhibit throughout the area. Shows of note include several solo exhibitions at the Ojai Art Center, as well as group shows including Ojai Studio Artists museum show, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Art Walk, and Beverly Hills Affaire in the Garden.
In addition to being a member of the Santa Barbara Art Association and the Pastel Society of the Gold Coast, he teaches pastel courses for adult beginners at “Ojai Creates”.
In January 2005, he was accepted by the World Wide Nature Artists as a signature member. He is also a member of several national organizations including The Degas Pastel Society and Oil Painters of America.
In 2010, his work was selected by a national fashion company Icon Shoes for their spring “vacation” line. In 2012, his painting was awarded merit award from the Pastel Society of America as well as the New Orleans Art Association Award at the 14th Biennial Degas Society Exhibit.
He has taken various art courses at Ventura College as well as private instruction from such Ojai notables as Bert Collins, Jennifer Moses and Carlos Grasso. His new collection demonstrates a commitment to personal growth and ongoing exploration of the "natural" world.
